Thanks to fellow audio scribe Steve Guttenberg, I found this article on a new minimalist turntable from R. D. Silva. The "Turnstyle" contains everything you need to play vinyl...platter, arm, cartridge and even a speaker. I would take a guess and say that ultimate sound quality is clearly not the goal here. Nevertheless it's an intriguing design and maybe some of the visual cues will find their way into more audiophile-approved designs.
