After getting rear-ended in a hit-and-run accident Thursday night and spending the evening getting checked out in the ER (I'm sore all over but basically ok), I needed a nice, relaxing weekend. I headed down to Port Aransas, Texas, and celebrated Librafest 2010 with a bunch of friends. (Librafest is actually a very unofficial gathering of San Antonio artists and friends, so don't worry if you've never heard of it.)
We were invited to the house of an important patron of the arts who lives in the area, and we were treated to the above feast. For those of you who have never been to a shrimp boil, a bunch of newspapers are laid out over a table, and dozens of pounds of steamed shrimp, sausage, corn on the cob, potatoes and carrots are poured on top. Everyone pretty much gathers around the table and gorges themselves!
A truly memorable meal! Thanks to everyone who made the weekend so wonderful and recuperative.
